SAMPLE 7 - 10 DAY CHARTER ITINERARY FOR THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
Laid out below is a suggested itinerary for a 7 to 10 day charter in the British Virgin Islands. This itinerary is based on having your flights arrive and depart the Beef Islands Airport, otherwise known as the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport, (Airport Code EIS). This is an ideal itinerary provided the yacht you chartered is available to meet you in and drop you off at Trellis Bay, which is at the foot of the airport runway.
Day 1: Welcome aboard at Treillis Bay, Beef Island. Being next to the airport avoids a taxi transfer. It's not noisy since there are no night flights into this tiny airport. View the boat, meet the crew, and discuss your cruise plans around the charts, cocktails and dinner onboard. Swimming is also a possibility in this beautiful bay.
Day 2: Set sail for a little beach just north of the Baths on Virgin Gorda. This is a beautiful anchorage with fabulous snorkeling. Enjoy lunch aboard and visit the Baths in the afternoon when the others have moved on. The Baths are enormous granite boulders amid little pools, lining a lovely beach. Spend the night in Spanish Town.
Day 3: Stroll around, do some shopping and then a short sail along the coast to an anchorage north of Bitter End. There you'll find superb snorkeling in beautiful turquoise water. After lunch return to the Bitter End for the night. If you're lucky you can enjoy the barbecue and steel band which performs once a week.
Day 4: Set sail for Peter Island. Anchor at either Deadman's Bay, Little Harbour, which is great for surfing, or Key Cay, depending on the wind. A calm anchorage is guaranteed.
Day 5: Head to Norman Island. Anchor in front of Cayes Caves for snorkeling, after lunch it's off to West End, Tortola, a picturesque little marina with painted wooden houses. Do a little shopping and enjoy dinner ashore.
Day 6: It's off to Jost Van Dyke. Anchor for lunch and a swim at Green Cay or Sandy Cay depending on the wind. Spend the night at Great Harbour.
Day 7: Sail the length of Tortola to Guana Island. Lunch and snorkeling at Monkey Point. Disembark or have dinner on board depending on the length of your cruise.
Day 8: Set sail early for Anegada to reach this fantastic, little-known coral island with it's fabulous beach and snorkeling. The anchorage can be rolling depending on the weather.
Day 9: Set sail back to Trellis Bay, Beef Island. A long downwind sail passing north of Tortola between Little Camanoe and Beef Island. You can enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants along the beach.
Day 10: Farewell swim, lunch and it's time to disembark.
Another option for charter guests flying into and out of the Beef Island Airport is to meet your yacht at Village Cay Marina in Road Town Tortola. There you will also find a number of hotels that cater to yacht guests that need accommodations for that first night of arrival.
Should you be coming to the BVI via a flight that lands in St. Thomas (STT), you'll want ferry over to either West End Tortola or Road Town Tortola where your yacht will meet you.
Another option for a flights landing in St. Thomas is to charter a yacht that departs from either Crown Bay, Yacht Haven Grand or Red Hook all located on St. Thomas.
